ABOUT

Born and raised in Toronto but working across the country, Shaniqua Mayers loves to explore literature of all kinds. Shaniqua holds a bachelor’s degree in Language and Intercultural Relations and a certificate in Indigenous Knowledge and Experiences from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). She has a passion for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as she continues to recognize how intersectionality impacts the way one navigates daily life.

Currently, she works at Toronto Metropolitan University as a Data Storyteller; in addition to her role, she works as the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Manager at the BC organization Starfish Canada.

Shaniqua has a great interest in bridging gaps between social justice and climate action, with hopes to continue creating a culture of environmental equity within climate action. As a lover of linguistics and the written arts, Shaniqua spends her free time writing short stories and poetry, reading, and doing pottery.
