ABOUT
Airlea Rasul is a Toronto-based environmental and community development leader and the Founder of the Terra Elysium Foundation, a not-for-profit organization established in October 2023 to promote environmental education, cultural artistic expression, and youth-driven community justice across Toronto. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environment and Urban Sustainability from Toronto Metropolitan University, with additional certifications in Environmental Management, Indigenous Studies, Urban Climate, and Conservation.
Airlea currently serves the OPS Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade within the Operational Design and Improvement Unit where she supports program and service delivery, deepening her work in policy, innovation, and public impact. Her previous experience includes key roles at Coast Funds, Parks Canada, the City of Toronto, and a variety of community nonprofits, where she supported multimillion-dollar environmental projects, Indigenous-led conservation, and equity-focused outreach initiatives.
Airlea has been recognized as a Top 25 Environmentalist Under 25 across Canada, and continues to support various community initiatives with a focus on equity, youth engagement, and the integration of arts with environmental justice.
Through Terra Elysium, she leads innovative programming like Terra Pulse, a city-funded cultural community arts program serving the Neighbourhood Improvement Area Jane and Finch. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges urban planning, the arts, and sustainability with a vision of inclusive community transformation.
Born and raised in Toronto, Airlea is passionate about creating meaningful change at the local level. Her long-term ambition is to strengthen civic infrastructure, improve community outcomes, and tackle Toronto’s most pressing needs.
